Who Is Fanxiang and Should You Trust Them?

Fanxiang is a storage brand that focuses only on solid state drives. The company makes NVMe drives, SATA drives, and portable storage. They sell mostly through Amazon and their own website. Their main appeal is simple. They offer high speeds at low prices.

Many buyers ask if Fanxiang is a legit brand. The answer is yes. The company is real and ships products worldwide. Their drives use 3D NAND flash from known suppliers. They also offer warranties that range from three to five years depending on the model.

That said, Fanxiang is not a premium brand like Samsung. It is a value brand. This means you get good performance for the money, but quality can vary between units. Some users report years of trouble free use. Others report early failures. This kind of mixed feedback is common with budget storage makers.

I think Fanxiang earns trust for casual and mid range use. The company backs its drives with warranties and responds to customer issues. But you should always buy from a trusted seller like Amazon so returns are easy. For most people who want cheap and fast storage, Fanxiang is a safe bet worth considering.

Fanxiang S770: The Flagship Gen4 NVMe SSD

The Fanxiang S770 is the brand’s top performer for serious users. This drive uses PCIe 4.0 technology and reaches read speeds up to 7300MB/s on Windows. On the PS5, it hits around 6300MB/s, which passes Sony’s speed requirement with ease.

What makes the S770 special is its DRAM cache. Most budget drives skip this part to save money. The S770 includes it, which helps keep speeds steady during long file transfers. Reviewers at hardware sites praised this feature as rare at this price point.

The drive comes in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB sizes. It also includes a heatsink option, which helps the PS5 stay cool during long gaming sessions. The 2TB model often sells for close to $100, making it one of the cheapest high end Gen4 drives with DRAM.

Real users report strong results. Many say the drive works great for gaming and video editing. A few report speed drops when the drive gets full, which is normal for SLC cache designs. Overall, the S770 stands out as the best Fanxiang drive for people who want top speed without the premium price tag. If you want serious performance on a budget, this is the one to watch.

Fanxiang S880: Extreme Speed for PS5 Gamers

The Fanxiang S880 is another Gen4 star in the lineup. It reaches read speeds up to 7300MB/s and write speeds up to 6600MB/s. This makes it a strong pick for PS5 owners and high end PC gamers who need fast load times.

The S880 uses 3D NAND flash and a dynamic SLC cache. This cache helps the drive hit peak speeds during quick tasks. Reviewers called it one of the best budget SSDs for its price, often around $89 for the 2TB model. That is a lot of speed for the money.

The drive comes in 1TB and 2TB sizes. It fits the M.2 2280 form factor, so it works in most modern laptops and desktops. Many buyers use it as a fast boot drive or a large game library drive. It handles both jobs well in daily use.

User feedback is split on this model. Many people love the speed and value. But some reviews mention bricking issues or speed problems over time. This is why buying from Amazon matters, since returns are simple if you get a bad unit. For gamers who want max speed on a budget, the S880 remains a tempting choice that delivers strong numbers for very little cash.

Fanxiang S790: Great Value with Included Heatsink

The Fanxiang S790 offers a smart mix of speed, price, and cooling. This Gen4 NVMe drive comes with a built in heatsink at a very low price. Some users grabbed the 1TB model for as little as $48, which is a great deal for a Gen4 drive.

The S790 reaches fast read and write speeds thanks to its PCIe 4.0 interface. It uses an SLC cache to boost quick tasks. The design looks clean and works well in both PCs and the PS5. The included heatsink is a nice bonus that saves you from buying one separately.

This drive comes in large sizes up to 4TB, which appeals to people who need lots of space. One user shared a one year report on the 4TB model. They said the drive kept working well even when nearly full, though speeds dropped a bit as expected.

The S790 shines for buyers who want big storage at a low cost. It is a solid choice for a game library or a media drive. The included heatsink adds real value. If you want a cheap Gen4 drive with cooling built in, the S790 gives you a lot for your money and remains a strong budget pick.

Fanxiang S500 Pro: The Budget Gen3 Champion

The Fanxiang S500 Pro is a PCIe 3.0 NVMe drive built for value. It reaches read speeds up to 3500MB/s, which is the top speed for Gen3. This makes it a smart pick for older systems that do not support Gen4.

The drive comes in sizes from 256GB up to 2TB. It uses high quality 3D NAND TLC flash and offers strong endurance ratings up to 640 TBW on some models. This means it can handle years of daily writing without wearing out fast.

Reviewers gave the S500 Pro high marks for value. One review called it great value for the money. The drive works well as a boot drive or a fast storage upgrade for laptops. Its low power use also helps laptop battery life last longer.

The S500 Pro fits people who want a cheap and reliable Gen3 drive. It is perfect for upgrading an old PC or adding fast storage to a laptop. Many older machines cannot use Gen4 speeds anyway, so the S500 Pro gives you all the speed your system can handle. For budget upgrades, this drive is a smart and safe choice that delivers real everyday speed gains.

Fanxiang S101: SATA SSD for Old Laptops

The Fanxiang S101 is a 2.5 inch SATA drive made for older machines. It reaches read and write speeds around 520MB/s, which is the max for the SATA interface. This drive is not for speed lovers, but it serves a clear purpose.

The S101 shines when you want to revive an old laptop or desktop. Many older machines do not have M.2 slots. They only support SATA drives. The S101 gives these machines a big speed boost over old spinning hard drives.

This drive comes in many sizes, from 128GB up to 2TB. It uses 3D NAND flash for good reliability. The upgrade from a hard drive to this SSD makes any old computer feel much faster. Boot times drop and apps open quickly.

The S101 is one of the cheapest ways to speed up an old machine. It is perfect for students, budget users, or anyone with an aging laptop. You will not get Gen4 speeds here, but that is not the point. The point is a huge upgrade from a hard drive at a very low price. For breathing new life into old hardware, the S101 is a great value pick.

Fanxiang SSD Speed and Performance in Real Use

Speed numbers look great on the box, but real use matters more. Fanxiang drives perform well in daily tasks like booting, opening apps, and moving files. Most users notice a big jump when they switch from a hard drive or an old SSD.

The Gen4 models like the S770 and S880 handle gaming and video editing with ease. Load times in games drop sharply. Large file copies finish fast. The DRAM cache in the S770 helps keep speeds steady during long transfers.

One thing to know is the SLC cache behavior. All budget drives use a fast cache zone. When you copy huge files, this cache can fill up. Once it fills, speeds drop until the cache clears. This is normal and happens with most drives in this price range.

For everyday users, this cache limit rarely matters. You would need to copy hundreds of gigabytes at once to notice it. Most people just game, browse, and edit files without hitting the limit. In real world use, Fanxiang drives feel fast and smooth. They deliver the speed most people need for far less money than premium brands charge.

Reliability and Durability: Do They Last?

Reliability is the biggest question with any budget SSD. Fanxiang drives get mixed reviews here. Most users report years of trouble free use. But a small number report early failures or bricking. This is common with value brands.

Fanxiang offers warranties from three to five years depending on the model. The Gen4 drives usually come with the longer five year coverage. This shows some confidence from the maker. Warranty support helps if a drive fails early.

The drives use 3D NAND flash with decent endurance ratings. The TBW numbers, which show how much data you can write, are solid for most models. For normal use, you will likely replace the drive for a bigger one before you ever wear it out.

My advice is simple. Buy from Amazon or a trusted seller so returns are easy. Keep backups of important files no matter what drive you use. This rule applies to all brands, even Samsung. Fanxiang drives are reliable enough for most people, but the mixed track record means backups are smart. Treat these as good value drives, not as drives for critical business data that you cannot afford to lose.

Fanxiang vs Samsung, WD, and Crucial

How does Fanxiang stack up against the big names? The main difference is price versus proven reliability. Fanxiang wins on price. Samsung, WD, and Crucial win on track record and support.

The Samsung 990 Pro offers the best long term reliability and top speeds. But it costs much more than a Fanxiang drive of the same size. You pay a premium for the Samsung name and its excellent software.

The WD Black SN770 and Crucial P3 Plus sit in the middle. They cost more than Fanxiang but less than Samsung. They offer proven reliability and strong warranties. Many buyers see these as the safe middle ground.

Fanxiang fits people who want max value. If you want the lowest price per gigabyte, Fanxiang usually wins. If you want peace of mind and top support, the big brands are worth the extra cost. Your choice depends on your budget and how much risk you accept. For a secondary drive or game storage, Fanxiang makes great sense. For a critical work machine, a premium brand may be the wiser pick.

Fanxiang SSD for PS5: Does It Work?

Yes, Fanxiang drives work well in the PS5. The S770 and S880 both pass Sony’s speed rules with ease. They hit read speeds well above the 5500MB/s minimum that Sony recommends for PS5 storage.

To use a Fanxiang drive in your PS5, you need a Gen4 NVMe drive with a heatsink. Some Fanxiang models include a heatsink, which saves you money and hassle. The S790 and certain S770 models come with cooling built in.

Many PS5 owners chose Fanxiang to save money on storage. The console eats through space fast, and official storage is costly. A 2TB Fanxiang drive often costs far less than other brands, giving you room for many games.

Installation is simple. You slide the drive into the PS5 expansion slot and let the console format it. Once done, you can store and play games right from the new drive. For PS5 storage on a budget, Fanxiang is a smart choice. It gives you the speed Sony wants at a price that leaves cash in your pocket for more games.

Who Should Buy a Fanxiang SSD?

Fanxiang drives fit specific buyers very well. If you are a budget gamer or PC builder, these drives give you great speed for less money. You can build a fast system without spending big on storage.

PS5 owners who need more game space should also look here. The Gen4 models pass Sony’s rules and cost far less than other options. A big Fanxiang drive gives you room for a huge game library.

People who want to upgrade an old laptop are another great fit. The SATA S101 or the Gen3 S500 Pro can bring new life to aging machines. The speed boost over a hard drive is huge and the cost is low.

Who should skip Fanxiang? Professionals with critical data may want premium brands with proven reliability. If you cannot risk any downtime, pay more for a Samsung or WD drive. But for most home users, gamers, and budget builders, Fanxiang offers strong value. It gives you the speed you need at a price that is hard to beat. Just keep backups and buy from a trusted seller.
